 A few years back Comkotes was looking to find tuning parts for the Peugeot 208 GTi. Searching for a 208 GTi Stage 1 remap on the internet gave just one result, that’s right - just one. We thought that should be changed as this is a great car with bags of potential, previous years of rally car champion heritage under its belt yet under supported by the aftermarket.

 

Those that had tweaked the Peugeot somewhat by adding upgrades had mostly based their knowledge on the RCZ; it was true most wanted RCZ-R power.

 

After a four month wait with few more test drives (as these cars were rare back then), money exchanged hands and we began to tune. We wanted our 208 GTi to have as many modifications as possible with the highest performance levels and best quality products. Our problem was we couldn’t find more than two items at the time, an intercooler and exhaust that was it, call off the search.

 

We needed to put this car on the map, cut through the red tape of what is and is not possible so to find the limits . To do this we would have to find, test and break the limits whilst eventually designing and testing our own aftermarket parts.

 

 Many spoke of chip tuning for the Peugeot and from having stage 4 rally cars in the past we knew this was not the route to go down, only ecu remaps would get the results required.

 

The EP6CDTX & FDTX engine had been around for many years getting upgrade after upgrade and not everyone knew this is a BMW unit sitting in the bay. Whilst some might think the Peugeot 208 GTi and 308 GTi II engines are the same as the mini and jcw engines we would say whilst they share many components the vast majority of them are unique to the Peugeot.

 

For the Peugeot 208 Gti Comkotes wanted to develop the car modification scene so owners could get to where they are today with vast amounts of technical data, specification and tuning parts available all in one place.

 

 Back then Comkotes Tuning knew parts may have to be designed and manufacturered so to improve horsepower. We started a build by fitting a dump valve, custom exhaust and a front mount intercooler then finding a remapping company willing to take the job on. At the time it was said only the Peugeot RCZ had been tuned which for many reasons was a similar engine,  that’s all we needed to know, from now on we will develop and test everything else.

 

The ecu remap was great and the list of parts needed to continue the build was long. It was just 3 months later back in 2015 we began to formulate our ideas on which products to design, test and market ourselves, which one did owners want the most, had the least faith in and expected the highest power results from? Finally after 18months of design, test and development we launched our TMSR1 Induction Kit for the Peugeot 208 GTi. Our goals were achieved, to increase power, performance, torque, throttle response, turbo spool rate and induction sound which for owners takes just 20 minutes to install whilst we smiled breaking many previous set bests for power and torque on the dyno's for this car. In 2017 we went on to releae TMSR2 and TMSR3.

 

During 2018 as the fully forged big turbo 208 GTi stage 4 build continued we have been testing and developing for the 308 GTi II and are happy to announce 3 new parts coming for 2019.
